The Amazing Rhodes Island In Greece

Rhodes is the main city of Greece near the Aegean sea and is also the capital of Dodecanese. It is a large area coming in at one thousand three hundred ninety-eight square kilometers. The population of Rhodes rests around a hundred thousand people. It has a great population and also offers many things to do within its great vastness of the port.

It is also one of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe so it has many landmarks to offer sightseers. Internationally, it is one of the most hot spots to tourists. The city itself has many landmarks, some of them go
back even as far as the antiquity, and others are a bit more current.

First, there is the Grand Master's Palace, which was built in the fourteenth century. During 1856 it was mainly destroyed by an explosion, however it was rebuilt to be a holiday spot for Victor Emmanuel the third.

Another hot spot in Rhodes, is the excellent sights of Acropolis.Acropolis has many things to offer such as the temple of Apollo, the theatre, as well as the stadium. Within the stadium, mock battles can be seen from some of the history of Rhodes involved.

To get to the various places in Rhodes however, there is the bus service. Another way to travel is the numerous taxi services within Rhodes during the winter months. During the summer there is quite a shortage as there are just too many tourists and not enough taxis.

Another way to travel around Rhodes, would be the sea service as the city has four harbors. A new harbor has been build near Zefyros and should at this point in time be shuttling tourists about to many destinations.

If you have the funds, one great thing to do would be to see Rhodes from above, whether it be by air service, or perhaps even a hot weather balloon. The sites from above are never one to question, there are things you can see that you can't see from the main land area.

Another great spectacle someone would be interested would be going to the beaches. The sand and surf is excellent during the summer months, and with the clear water it is for sure a hot spot for those snorkel divers.

Windsurfing as well as regular surfing is a popular on most beaches, however if you are looking for a more restful spot, there are designated beaches that are more on the quiet side.

Other things include casinos, aquariums as well as hotels, in case you need a quick spot to rest your head. Others also offer varying taverns and cafes not to mention the fantastic areas to eat fresh food.

There are plenty of mountains that catch many eyes. Mountain climbing is only one of the sports offered within the ranges, or just simple hiking.

Rhodes is a spot where you can go and visit many times and still not be able to see everything. Within the mountains you'll find varying wildlife and plant life. However, if you don't wish to see the mountains, Rhodes has an abundant of windmills for the more relaxed sightseeing.

Perhaps one of the biggest things to visit in Rhodes Greece, would be the catholic churches of Agios Gragiskos and Santa Maria Della Vitoria. These are the more popular churches, with an abundance of historical facts as well as paintings and statues.

If your looking for a more relaxed setting you can even find museums filled with ancient greek facts. Many famous artists have captured the essence of Rhodes and they are on display in the museums.

Some of the last things to see would be 7 springs, which has a real oasis, where there is always water abundant coming from the springs withing. Near the springs is a forest where you can enjoy the great outdoors.

In the western side of the island is a wonderful place called Butterflies, here during the month of August you'll find thousands and thousands of butterflies, a great place to just sit and relax during downtime. The last would be Lindos.

Lindos is so ancient it has been declared a landmark. The only way in is by motorbike and donkeys. Here you can sit and relax upon the beach or in the hotel that has kept with the ancient history of Lindos and has not strayed from the original area of the city. By Nick Nikolis

Recession Busting Holidays at Home in the UK

If you happen to find yourself at home counting the pennies, don’t worry. It is still possible to experience a fantastic holiday and get involved in activities that cost next to nothing.

Before you actually set out to have a holiday it is important that you have a plan. Making a detailed plan as to where you intend to spend your days and how, is essential to ensure things go to plan and budgets stay under control.

What are the many things that you can do with your family during this recession period?

Plan a Picnic

A picnic is an affordable way to spend a meal with your loved ones. Not only does it bring all the family together in one spot, but it allows you to be more dynamic than would otherwise be possible in a restaurant setting. With no waiters to tip and an affordable menu at your fingertips-what better way to spend a day in the great outdoors than by having a picnic?

Visit Cultural Monuments

Take a step back in time and immerse yourself in what the past has to offer. Many places that are culturally inclined offer the best packages during holiday seasons. Not only are most of them free, but there are often temporary exhibitions and installations that can prove to be a real educational experience. Taking the time to visit one is a sure way of seeing things, places and people through a different light.

Visit to The Beach

There are many beaches in the UK that offer panoramic views, succulent cuisine and serenity. Most of them are also free and are perfect for relaxing and meeting new people. With a tight budget on the agenda, a visit to the beach is one option that should not be overlooked during your vacation.

Be Your Own Boss

During the holidays, this can be the perfect time to educate yourself and learn a new skill. Returning to the workplace with a new area of expertise is invaluable and will ensure that no matter what the recession might throw at you, you will have fresh abilities which will instantly make you more employable.

The Hungarian lake Balaton

So here we are, as the sun sets, about to party all night with an international crowd of barefoot hipsters, in a location hardly any of us had heard of before. Yet it’s a destination of such outstanding natural beauty, you’d think it would be regularly topping industry hot lists. The temperature is tropical enough for a girl behind us to dance happily in her bikini, and there’s a man still swimming as the sun finally dies in a blaze of fluoro pyrotechnics.

This is far from the tropics, though, and that’s not the Indian Ocean stretching out into the night in front of us. We’re in Hungary, on the shores of Lake Balaton, the largest freshwater lake in Europe, and a former hang-out for the international communist jet set.
Balaton really is take-your-breath-away huge. From our vantage point, you can just make out the eastern corners, but then it stretches far off to the northwest.

The Hungarian lake Balaton

It’s surrounded by greenery and occasional dark, cool pines, and protected from the elements by a high wall of natural volcanic rock; the air is still and the crickets chirrup. Like the postcard so far? There’s more: the water, a ridiculously inviting shade of faded turquoise, is warm and shallow. There are boats aplenty — but none of the motorised behemoths that blight so many fancy resorts.

In keeping with the downtempo feel of the place, we see a wooden houseboat, lots of little sailing dinghies, pedalos — and one man rowing what looks appears to be a raft made from a couple of old surfboards, strapped together with gaffer tape. St Tropez, this ain’t.

Lying 60 miles southwest of Budapest ( budapesht-city.ru ), Balaton is a sort of Hungarian Hamptons. We’re here for Beach Club Beach, a mini-festival (only 300 guests) featuring some of the hottest names from the Berlin deep-house scene, which is being held for the second year running in one of several crumbling old villas dotting the southeastern shoreline of the lake. And we barely hear another English accent for the duration of the weekend. “It was Fidel Castro’s holiday home,” the promoter, Tamas Racsek, told us when we arrived, walking us through a series of decaying rooms full of decaying 1960s furniture.

The lake, large enough to be known as the Hungarian Sea, was first developed as a holiday destination before the second world war. In the 1950s, it became a centre for communist youth holidays, with up to 1,800 children housed in the expropriated private villas used to entertain visiting dignitaries, including Castro, Brezhnev, Yuri Gagarin and Mao Tse-tung.

The villas have since fallen into disrepair and been abandoned, which is a shame. The impressive structures, each set in their own plot of overgrown, tangled vegetation, would make for a fantastic development, but they have been allowed to decompose so badly, it would mean ripping them down and starting again. European adventures this winter

We can hit the back roads to a host of unique UK and European adventures this winter with the launch of an exciting new range of small group touring from Explore Holidays. Explore Holidays, the wholesaler of choice to sell Back-Roads Touring Company Product, has announced the launch of one of its most exciting brochures of the year offering a wonderful array of unique, small group touring adventures capturing the festive spirit of Europe and the UK.

In a first for the leading travel wholesaler, the special Back-Roads winter brochure will offer 16 pages of unique touring product covering Castles and Cathedrals, Imperial Cities, Alpine Discoveries, Italian Indulgence, Battlefield Tours and more at highly competitive pricing. Marketing manager for Explore Holidays, Maxine Wiggs, said the brochure would open a winter wonderland for Australian travellers looking to get behind the tourist façade.

“The packages allow travellers to enjoy an intimate connection with the places they visit throughout the UK and Europe travelling in the company of just two to 16 others,’’ Ms Wiggs said “Guests can enjoy spectacular scenery travelling in the comfort of small air-conditioned coaches and relax at night in a range of traditional accommodation choices.’’

Enhanced by the services of knowledgeable companion guides, the tours cover destinations including traditional South England, Scotland, Vienna Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria (http://welcome-to-vienna.ru), Germany and Italy with flexible itineraries and both scheduled and customised options available.
With over six million visitors every year (over 250,000 of whom come to the acclaimed festival, which got under way last weekend and runs until the end of August), Salzburg has no shortage of hotels, but it can be hard to find a decent place to stay. If you fancy somewhere more personal than the Sheraton (but just as comfy), the Hotel Auersperg is the ideal hideaway.

Family-owned and run, it's intimate yet stylish, with none of that bland anonymity which bedevils so many chain hotels. It's quintessentially Austrian , but there's not a trace of Alpine kitsch – no lederhosen, stuffed animals or antlers on the walls. A pleasant hotch-potch of antique and modern décor, it's a proper slice of Salzburg chic, rather than Sound of Music schmaltz.

The Auersperg gets a lot of repeat business, and it's easy to see why. The walled garden is a real rarity in a compact city where green space is at a premium. Sitting out here in the summertime, you feel more like a private guest in a close friend's house than a paying customer in a hotel. There's no restaurant, but the buffet breakfast is delicious and the convivial bar serves hearty snacks, nourishing enough for brunch or supper.

Highlights of the new brochure include a four day tour of South England taking in the Cotswolds, Stonehenge and Windsor Castle; seven days discovering the royal castles of Scotland and a nine day tour of the imperial cities ( Vienna )of Central Europe with its medieval buildings and festive markets.

Spa Holidays in the Canary Islands

You don't need to go all the way to Bali to spend a relaxing holiday pampering yourself in the local spa. Canary Island holidays offer the perfect compromise with a plethora of exotic treatments and a temperature to match.

One of the best luxury hotels in the Canary Islands for spa treatments is the Hotel Botanico. This exclusive hotel located in the Puerto de la Cruz area of Tenerife is surrounded by subtropical gardens in a peaceful area, which is just perfect for succumbing to all the luxury spa treatments on offer. The Oriental Spa Garden has a team of qualified therapists ready to soothe away all your aches and pains on a Canary Islands holiday, and with the islands offering the perfect year round climate, this makes the outdoor dragon pagoda the perfect place to indulge in a Shiatsu style massage.

However, if you're after something a little more private then you may want to consider retreating to one of the 20 private spa rooms on offer. The Hotel Botanico also includes a special package for patrons that wish to lose weight whilst on a Canary Islands holiday. This includes supplies of fresh mineral water and food which is exclusively from an organic source and contains absolutely no synthetic proteins.

The different facilities on offer certainly do their part in setting the hotel apart from other luxury hotels in the Canary Islands, and as well as an ice room, the resort also contains an Oriental lancorum, Japanese Saunas and Turkish Baths. Daily exercise lessons provide the incentive for keeping fit whilst on your Canary Islands holidays and a unisex hairdresser means that you are certain to go home from your break looking your absolute best.

But whilst Oriental massages are certainly a fail-safe option, if you want something a little more traditional on your Canary Islands holiday then why not consider making the most of the islands' natural resources? Lanzarote is arguably the most volcanic of the seven islands which make up the Canaries and the volcanic ash is considered by many to have aruyvedic healing benefits. The lagoon of Orzola, where white and black sand remain juxtapositioned between turquoise waters, is the perfect place to experience the natural benefits of the volcano and, as the water retains a warm temperature on a year-round basis, there is no excuse for not making the pilgrimage whilst on your Canary Islands holidays.

However, if you don't want to travel further than the next room in order to indulge yourself on your spa holiday, then you may want to consider a stay in the luxury Canary Islands hotel of Grand Hotel Bahia Del Duque. This plush hotel was built to resemble an old village in the Canaries, with the staff decked out in traditional costume and an ancient bell tower taking pride of place as the hotel's key focal point. The onsite restaurant boasts one of the few Michelin stars in the Canary region, whilst the spa facilities offered are way above par. In keeping with the traditional island theme, the spa takes natural elements from the Canary Islands such as, Aloe Vera plants, marine extracts and volcanic lava to create indigenous treatments exclusive to a holiday in the Canary Islands.

With the natural resources of the island rivalling those offered throughout Europe, a Canary Islands holiday is a definite must for those who would ordinarily consider travelling further-a-sea for a premier spa experience. By Jane Wilkinson

The flora and fauna of Northern Cyprus attracts visitors from all over the world, and during the spring season when the flowers are freshly in bloom a holiday in Northern Cyprus is a haven for botanists and nature lovers alike. One of the best ways to experience the fragrant beauty of Northern Cyprus's wildflowers is by taking an orchid walk into the Kyrenia Mountains.

Many holiday operators run orchid walks and treks up into the mountains, it is even possible to arrange to do the trek in aid of charity whilst on your holiday in Northern Cyprus. The walks take place from February to May, when the wild flowers can be seen in abundance high on the steep mountain slopes.

If you would like to take an orchid walk whilst on your Northern Cyprus holiday, they usually take up a whole day and are split into two halves. In the morning you will follow a trail into the mountains, where you will spot a number of wildflowers which are endemic only to Cyprus. Your guides will also point out at least nine different species of orchids, from the Serapis Aphrodite with its purple-plumed flowers to the Orchis Troodi, which was first found growing on the Troodos Mountains and therefore is perfectly suited to the harsh environment of the Kyrenia Mountains in the north of the island.

The mountain trail may be extremely scenic, but it also gives visitors an insight into the real Cyprus whilst on their holiday in Northern Cyprus Your guide will tell you stories of the village people who live a simple existence up in the mountains and an orchid walk will also extend your knowledge on the native plant life of the region. As you continue your walk further into the valley you will come across some rarer orchids which are indigenous to this area and which only grow deep in the mountain valley basin. However, your two hour orchid walk isn't just about pretty flowers, while following the trail you will also come across a Bronze Age Tomb and ancient drinking troughs which were once used by sheep. This coupled with the rugged mountain scenery will make you feel as if you really are travelling back in time whilst on your holidays to Northern Cyprus.

An organic farm, located on the trail, provides the perfect place in which to stop for lunch and if you want to eat like a local then be sure to try the delicious haloumi cheese and grilled meat kebabs. The farm boasts a beautiful outside area and you can enjoy your lunch beside the wild cyclamens before continuing on with the next part of your tour.

During the afternoon, you will be able to experience the traditional Turkish-Cypriot village life that your guide taught you about during your morning walk. The first stop is a visit to a local village to visit the Medieval Maronite Church and the houses made from a compact mixture of mud and straw. This is followed with a talk, by a village local, on the many uses of the mountain herbs, which are still gathered and used by the local people in both cooking and homeopathic medicine.

The walk finishes back at the Organic Farm with a traditional English afternoon tea and carrot cake, which should set you firmly on your way for the rest of your Northern Cyprus holiday. By Shereena Lingiah

The Traditional Seaside Holiday

Many images come to mind when remembering our traditional seaside holidays as children, the smell of the sea, playing in the sand, the hot summer days spent on the beach with the family, flying kites and making sandcastles. But is this all seen through rose-tinted spectacles or where they really as good as we remember, and indeed can they ever be obtained today?

The holiday scene for British holidaymakers has seen a number of changes over the years, in the 60’s and 70’s the British seaside holiday was under threat from the promise of guaranteed sunshine in Spain. As the years moved on, more exotic holidays were available and not just for those more wealthy. This in turn changed the make-up of the traditional seaside holiday quite dramatically, and for some destinations there seems no return to the glory days, having been spoilt by the ‘kiss me quick’ hats, bingo halls and pier performances.

However, some coastal areas have survived and in fact those that changed little over the years have seen a greater increase of visitors seeking to return to those halcyon days of their childhood.

One such coastal destination that seems to have changed little and escaped the brash commercialism so often found in other seaside locations is the small town of Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast. A traditional fishing town, where the local fishing boats can still be seen hauling the catch of the day and the pace of life is relaxed.

The pebbled shoreline of this stunning stretch of Suffolk coast continues as far as the eye can see and is perfect for the whole family. A short walk from the beach and you are in the centre of the small town where everything is to hand, shops, boutiques, art galleries and cinema.

If it’s a seaside hotel you’re looking for, the Brudenell Hotel has the perfect location. A step away from the beach, The Brudenell offers stunning sea views, easy access to the beach and is a perfect family hotel for those looking for a traditional seaside location. With a terrace that’s perfect for dining or just a cup of coffee or afternoon tea, and a restaurant with floor to ceiling windows providing panoramic views of this beautiful Suffolk coastline. Sexy Limos Vs Budget Limos, and How to Have Both

There are many factors to take into consideration when deciding what type of limousine to get for your special occasion. For most events and occasions, a Lincoln model limo or luxury car is the most cost-effective bet that preserves the class of each special day or night out.

Before selecting a limo, you should know exactly how many people are coming, the occasion and how far you are going. Most limo companies tailor the experience to the occasion, especially if it is a wedding, birthday or prom. Likewise, if you are aiming to impress special business guests, that's important for your chauffeur to know in advance.

While price is an important factor, that alone should not determine which company you select. Also make sure that the limo company is licensed and insured to protect both your investment and the passengers.

Lincoln Town Cars, Lincoln limos and Lincoln stretch limos are the most popular choices for both business and personal affairs. A Lincoln Town Car is especially desirable for airport transportation and small business gatherings. It is the most popular chauffeured luxury car in the United States. Despite the economy negatively impacting sales, the Town Car remains one of the most popular luxury cars to purchase. Lincoln Town Cars have appeared as part of the culture in many popular movies, including "Ocean's Eleven" and "Rush Hour." This model holds four people and usually features a leather interior, two-way communication system and an extensive sound system.

Lincoln limos and stretch limos are typically black or white and hold as many as 10 passengers, especially in the later models. Most limos usually have a plush bar, a moon roof, tinted windows for privacy, a divider between passengers and chauffeur, extensive interior lighting, leather seats and sound system options. Many also traditionally have a mirrored ceiling and two-way communication system.

In recent years, the smaller Lincoln limos - with the exception of the Lincoln Town Car which many wealthier people own as their personal or business vehicle - have not been manufactured. Always check to be sure how many passengers your rented limo can hold. A good rule of thumb is to get a limo that can hold one or two passengers more than you actually expect. This ensures maximum fun, class and comfort for your Lincoln limo ride experience. By Stephanie Mojica
